Sterile, gridded membrane filters are widely used for routine microbiological quality
control (QC). Whether single-packed or dispenser-ready, our membrane filters are
ready-to-use. This offers the highest security while saving preparatory time.
Cellulose membrane filters (mixed cellulose ester) contain a mixture of cellulose
nitrate and cellulose acetate, a material that assures effective retention combined
with high flow rates and optimal colony growth. The various filter colors allow the
best possible contrast to the colonies for easy and reliable quantification and identification.Great Recovery Rates
The 0.45µm pore size is the preferred choice for optimal microbial recovery, as demonstrated by comparison of different
recovery rates on different pore size combinations. Studies have confirmed the standard 0.45µm pore size is the most
appropriate for general microbiological purposes.
The 0.45µm filters give the most consistent recoveries across various test systems and do not allow passage of
standard 0.22µm sterilizing filter challenge microorganisms under typical filtration conditions. The flow rate of
this pore size is optimal for both the retention and recovery of microorganisms.
Sterile and Gridded
Each Cellulose Nitrate (CN) Membrane Filter is sterile and gridded for better identification, there is no need to
clean beforehand, significantly reducing preparatory time. This also decreases the chances of human error and accidental
tampering which can lead to variations in results. Each envelope containing a Cellulose Nitrate (CN) Membrane Filter is
also marked with a unique filter identification and lot number, so you don’t lose track of which filter belongs to which test.
