Product Description

Span 40, chemically known as Sorbitan Monopalmitate, is a non-ionic surfactant and emulsifier widely used in pharmaceutical, cosmetic, food, and industrial formulations. It is derived from sorbitol and palmitic acid, forming a waxy, cream-to-light-yellow solid with excellent emulsifying, stabilizing, and dispersing properties.

With a Hydrophilic-Lipophilic Balance (HLB) value of around 6.7, Span 40 is ideally suited for water-in-oil (W/O) emulsions, providing superior texture, consistency, and long-term emulsion stability. It is compatible with other non-ionic surfactants such as Tween series (Polysorbates), allowing fine-tuning of emulsion types in both aqueous and oily systems.
