Product Overview:
MRVP (Methyl Red Voges-Proskauer) Agar is a differential medium for determining the ability of an organism to perform the mixed acid fermentation of glucose. This medium is commonly used in clinical diagnosis, food safety inspection, and research for the detection of the ability of bacteria to produce acid or acetoin based on the bacterial metabolism. MRVP helps identify different bacteria, like those in the family Enterobacteriaceae.
Key Features: Mueller Hinton Agar
Dual Testing Medium: Designed for the Methyl Red (MR) and Voges-Proskauer (VP) tests to enable testing of metabolic pathways in a single medium.
Pack of 500g: Suitable for laboratories with medium-term demand for routine testing; e.g. Clinical and research laboratories.
Reliable Quality: Manufactured under strict quality standards to guarantee high-quality results.
Wide Application: Ideal for clinical diagnosis, food microbiology, and environmental testing.
Clear Results: MRVP Agar is used for differentiation of acid producers (Methyl Red positive) and acetoin producers (Voges-Proskauer positive).
Applications:
Clinical Diagnostics: In clinical labs, to distinguish bacteria that ferment glucose to produce mixed acids (Methyl Red positive) and acetoin (Voges-Proskauer positive), to help identify pathogens and their metabolic capabilities.
Food Safety Testing: Employed in food microbiology for the detection of bacterial contaminants in food products to ensure food safety.
Research and Academics: Useful aid for microbial studies into bacterial metabolism, genetic diversity and the activity of microorganisms in various environments.
Environmental Microbiology: Applied to endogenous testing for distinguishing bacterial species present in water, soil, and other environmental samples.
